Show season got started off on a great foot here at Will-C Nance farm.  We showed three shows in 2 days back in September and brought home champions at each!

At the York County Fall Livestock Show, Rachel walked away with 1st in showmanship, reserve champion Suffolk, and a few class winners.  Taylor was third in showmanship, and won her breed class.  Jacob our newest show team member was 3rd in showmanship his first time out and Grand Champion Cheviot breeding ewe!  Dru and Grayson showed two twin ewe lambs out of our Lawter ram for 1st and 2nd in their class and Dru had reserve champ with her class winning ewe!  Over all it was a great show for us.

We left York and headed north to the NC Mountain State Fair.  Whitney, Wyatt and I made the drive up.  In the Suffolk division we had Grand & Reserve Champion Ram, and Reserve Champion Ewe.  They did not have a a Border Cheviot division so we showed in the AOB classes.  There we had 1st place yearling ram.  Thanks to Whit for all of her help.

On Sunday of the same weekend Rachel, Taylor, Wyatt, Nana, and I along with the Garrison Family went to Cabarrus Co. Fair in Carbarrus, NC.  This was another great showing for the girls.  Rachel and Taylor both won their showmanship classes.  We had Grand Champion Commerical ram with our Cheviot Ram, and Grand and Reserve Champion Suffolk ram.  Brady Mullis had Reserve Champion Suffolk ewe with a yearling ewe we sold him in 2008.  Congrats Brady!

We have slowed down for a bit and put the rams back out to pasture with the ewes.  We hope to start lambing in late Jan.  We have made some hard marketing decisions lately and decided that we will only maintain 20 ewes.  Cheviots and Suffolks of course.  We plan to continue to improve our genetics, raisie productive lambs and begin selling retail lamb cuts in the summer of 2010.

The girls next show will be the Union County Fair.  From there we will leave and head to the South Carolina State Fair.  Good Luck to all the exhibitors at these shows.

We are gearing up for another great show season.  We kick off the start of the season this Saturday.  We will be showing 3 shows in 2 states in 48 hours.  York County Fall Livestock show will be the beginning of the marthon show weekend.  Once the last ribbon has been awarded there we are off to Mountain State Fair in Fletcher, NC.  We will show there Saturday evening and then load up and head home to show at the Carbarrus County Fair in NC.  Good luck to Rachel, Taylor, Jacob and the other exhibitors!  I will update next week with results and pictures!
